Committees

The IT Professionals Conference is a conference organized by UW IT staff for UW IT staff. If you are interested in helping with the conference, contact itproconf@wisc.edu.

Conference Committees

The Conference is led by two co-chairs. One co-chair was a co-chair the previous year, and the other person will be co-chair for the first time but has chaired at least one sub-committee. There are several sub-committees, each led by a chair or co-chair. Sub-committee chairs meet with each other and the conference co-chairs in regularly scheduled meetings scheduled by the conference administrator who also takes meeting notes. Co-chairs are responsible for staying aware of the status of conference tasks and progress, keeping sub-committees on task, making major decisions affecting the direction of the conference, and creating steering committee agendas.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee consists of two Conference co-chairs, sub-committee co-chairs, and a conference administrator.

Marketing and Presenter Support

Do you enjoy working with people, or have limited time to commit to the conference?  Share your ideas for increasing the number of sessions and attendees for the conference through engaging marketing and advertising techniques. You’ll work closely with speakers from the moment their proposal is accepted until you’ve given them a link to their session’s recording, to provide them with a positive conference experience. Provide potential speakers and attendees with clear information about the conference. You’ll be in the heart of the sessions the day of the conference as a session moderator. Enjoy the flexibility to participate in the entire planning process marketing the conference,  the last three months supporting speakers, or only the days of the conference helping as needed.

Website and Platform

Do you enjoy crafting a great user experience? You can work behind the scenes to  provide the smoothest conference going experience possible for speakers and attendees. Explore new platforms for events and determine the best event platform or combination of platforms for our conference in consideration of the conference’s format and features and the best experience you can offer speakers, attendees, and staff.  Create fun features for the website that make it an exciting hub for conference speakers and attendees. Stay busy updating items as the schedule changes. You’ll be in the center the day of the conference running sessions,  moderating chats, or fielding technical questions.

Finance and Analytics

Do  you like making numbers look pretty? You can help keep the conference on track by monitoring budget operations to make sure the conference has a pretty expense sheet at the end of the conference. Also, analyze the results of the pre-event survey to inform the committee’s decisions. Help the committee make sense of the conference data about registration, attendance, and post event survey results, including comparison with previous years.

Program

Do you want to shape the content of the conference or have limited time to commit to the conference?  This is your chance to create the conference format, elements, and sessions you want. You’ll decide what session proposals are accepted, what networking opportunities to provide, and determine what tracks attendees can follow during the conference. You’ll also research, vet, and decide the keynote speaker(s) for the conference. You’ll determine the overall conference format and schedule. After the first three months of the planning process you can join another sub-committee to help with other conference needs.
