Biography

Jay Scholz is the System Engineer for the Aquatic Sciences Center. He has worked at UW Madison for 12 years, his first job being the IT Manager, and sometimes-beleaguered facility/building manager, for Science Hall. For a number of years he supported the amazing folks in the Geography Department, the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, and the State Cartographer’s Office.

Jay earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. While attending UW Platteville Jay worked for ResNet supporting student technology in the residence halls and discovered a passion for teaching and demystifying technology for people of all technological skillsets. He has been recognized for providing exceptional technical, and occasionally psychological, support for his family, friends, and UW Madison colleagues.

Jay’s hobbies include spending time outside doing anything with his family and friends, fishing, kayaking, playing on his ham radios, and inventing dad jokes, often unsuccessfully.
