Biography

Christian Schmieder serves as the Assistant Director for Data Governance at the UW-Madison Division of Extension, managing the development and maintenance of the institution’s central data collection systems. As Extension’s resident specialist for qualitative data and qualitative data analysis software, he and his team support researchers, evaluators, educators and administrators with the collection and analysis of text-based information.

Before serving at Extension, Christian has worked as a specialist for research data and analysis software at UW-Madison and Colgate University, and has served as an independent research consultant and methods trainer in the United States and the European Union.
