Biography

Em has over twenty years of IT experience at UW-Madison, where she also earned both a BS in Computer Science and JD in Law. She currently coordinates the operational needs of WID researchers, provides computing and data management guidance, and manages a variety of short and long-term IT projects. Her current role has helped her learn to build and maintain successful, creative teams of collaborators.

Biography

Greetings! My name is Mike Crawford, I am a servant leader who is dedicated to social justice and equity in the workplace.  My background is in student affairs, and I “officially” started working in IT in 2012.  I have successfully created team cultures that foster and promotes growth through servant leadership which is highlighted in the following traits: active listening; empathy; empowerment; adaptability; optimism.  I have worked at UW Madison for twenty-three years.  Nineteen years with University Housing (eight years in Housing IT), 2 years with AIMS and currently, I am a Level 2 manager in User Services for DoIT.

Biography

Jonathan is the Web Operations Manager for the UW–Madison Office of Human Resources. He honed his skills as a web developer in the advertising industry, working for clients such as Culver’s and Fiskars, before joining UW–Madison in 2017 as a software engineer with DoIT Web Platform Services. He specializes in WordPress development and provides consultation on many related topics, including design, data analytics, and information architecture.

Biography

Mal Dziuk is a Help Desk Specialist at SMPH – Radiology IT (Soon-to-be SMPH IT) and has been at her current role for a year and a half. In the past, Mal was a Building Technician for a local school district and graphic designer. After graduating from Carthage College with degrees in Japanese and Graphic Design, Mal found her love for IT while trying out a Technology Assistant role in the area. Mal’s favourite part of being in IT is helping users learn the tech around them and teaching different ways to utilize their tools to ease their workload. While not doing IT work, Mal enjoys traveling (especially back to Japan!), baking, collecting Pokémon cards, and walking with her Chihuahua.

Biography

Lucas Gallagher is a DevOps Cloud Engineer who has been with UW SMPH Informatics and IT for 2 years, and has 6 years of Infrastructure-as-Code and Agile experience.  He has worked predominantly in Azure and with tools such as Terraform and Ansible using methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum.   Prior to his time at UW he worked as a Security Architect and Engineer gaining insights into securing platforms and managing firewalls through code. He is a strong advocate for automation and believes APIs are one of the most transformative developments in IT, alongside the internet itself and AI.

Eddie Gnewuch is happy to be working back in his hometown. He joined UWMadison’s job rotation program after graduating from UWOshkosh with a degree in information systems. He has prior experience in IT working as a database administrator and web developer. Eddie has already taken on a wide variety of IT work at the university, ranging from typical helpdesk functions to networking and web app development. Outside of work, Eddie loves to skateboard, snowboard, hike, and play board games and video games.

Biography

Jeanne is the Service Lead for the Low Code Solutions (LCS) team within DoIT. Jeanne was the first person hired to the LCS team in July 2023, with others filling out the team through the end of 2023. Prior to LCS, Jeanne was a Business Systems Analyst for ancillary systems with ATP. Jeanne’s background includes project management, business analysis, testing, tech support, and more at software vendor start-ups through large healthcare and educational institutions. When Jeanne isn’t helping progress the service, she enjoys paddling, hiking, swimming, reading and house projects.

Biography

Sara Hanson joined UW-Madison’s Talent Acquisition team in the Office of Human Resources in May of 2021 and is currently the Director of Talent Pathways. Talent Pathways supports the campus’s staffing needs by growing the current Job Rotation Program, developing new programs, and assisting with more deliberate outreach and relationship building to develop applicant pipelines. The Job Rotation Program is a prime example of our commitment to equitable support for early professionals, continuous learning, and making a positive difference through the four integrated components of meaningful work, community, mentoring, and training and development. Sara is a proud first generation college student and alumna of the Wisconsin School of Business.
