Joe Johnson is a senior IT leader with nearly 30 years of experience developing and implementing strategic technology solutions in large enterprise environments. For the last seven years, Joe has helped lead the introduction of cloud computing services into large organizations, most recently as the Director of Cloud Strategy for the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Biography

Jess Jones is a user experience analyst at DoIT, working with partners within DoIT and across campus to help them understand and meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and other users. In 2016, she co-founded the Better by Design conference and workshop series at UW-Madison, with the goal of bringing together design-minded people to explore new ideas and skills with major design influencers from Google, the New York Times, U.S. Digital Service, Minecraft, and more. She holds a Master’s of Science in Human Computer Interaction from DePaul University and a B.A. in Journalism from UW-Madison.

Kedar Joyner is a UX/UI designer with more than 10 years of experience in design and development. At UW–Madison, she helps design the campus WordPress theme used by more than 2,000 sites. By night, she is a freelance illustrator and artist who loves drawing comics. Kedar is endlessly curious and brings both technical problem-solving and playful creativity to her work.

Nuwan Kumarasiri is the Engineering Manager for Enterprise Integration, leading the Registrar’s Office Application Development (ROAD) team. Biography

John Lalande works as a network and systems engineer at UW-Madison’s Space Science & Engineering Center (SSEC), supporting the center’s Linux servers, large Lustre file systems, HPC compute clusters, as well as Cisco firewall and switches. Prior to joining SSEC in 2005, John worked as an IT support specialist at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and, before that, wrote for Smart Computing magazine. John graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English and History.
In his free time, John enjoys getting on the air with his collection of amateur radios, hiking, and photography.

Biography

David has worked in information systems technology for over 20 years. Responsibilities at the Department of Dermatology cover security, computer desktop management, hardware and peripheral support, website management, systems administration and project coordination. Previously David worked for two Midwestern Universities in information systems and technology support. David joined the department as its first Information Systems Manager, he has a Master of Science in Management and is a pilot.

Biography

Mandy Morrow has been the Associate Director of DesignLab since January 2018 and is an employee of the General Library System. She originally came to UW-Madison to pursue a PhD in Hebrew & Semitic Studies focusing on the linguistics of ancient metaphors before leaving her studies to take a position in DesignLab. She holds a Master of Arts in Classical & Ancient Near Eastern Studies, a Master of Arts Archaeology, and a Master of Theological Studies in Old Testament. While a student, she taught courses in English, Classics, Religious Studies, Jewish Studies, Hebrew Bible, and Literature in Translation at UW-Madison, and prior to working in DesignLab she held a student lead position in College Library’s Computer and Media Center for four and a half years. She currently serves on the steering committee for the UW-Madison IT Professionals Conference and the UW-Madison Undergraduate Symposium and has provided workshops and guest lectures for various departments/divisions, organizations, and communities of practice across campus. She has always had a passion for video/audio production and graphic design and has recently been researching digital literacy and user experience.
